Animal welfare
Our corporate diligence and responsible conduct are geared towards the welfare of the animals. That is why, as early as 2010, we worked with experts from the fields of research and agriculture to develop a system for assessing animal welfare indicators and linked this to a bonus scheme for farmers. Measurable animal welfare indicators, such as the condition of the turkeys’ footpads, form the basis of this bonus scheme. The better these animal welfare indicators are, the higher the bonus payment for the respective turkey farmer.
We continue to make steady progress in the area of animal welfare and work constructively with key animal welfare organisations and NGOs. Together, we seek ways to strike the best possible balance between maximum animal welfare and economic efficiency.
